Bugs
[photopress:Mosquitoes.jpg,thumb,pp_empty]
Being a tropical island, Singapore also has its share of problems with mosquitoes and the diseases that come with them (malaria, dengue fever etc.) Therefore static water is forbidden (small fish ponds must have a pump that keeps the water circulating) to prevent mosquitoes from laying their eegs. On top of this all land owners are also required to do a weekly anti-mosquitoes sweep with some kind of poison. The whole area is covered in smoke while they do it, which is why Karina actually thought a fire had broken out the first time she saw it. Click on the picture to enlarge it.
